6th Annual Films at the Gate

 

Every summer, a vacant lot near Boston’s Chinatown Gate becomes a free, outdoor theater, showing Kung-Fu and classic Chinese-language films under the stars. Learn more and see list of sponsors at www.filmsatthegate.org.

Films will have English subtitles or summaries will be provided.  

Location: Boston Chinatown Gate

August 25 to 26: 10 Hudson Street vacant lot 

August 27 to 28: Chinatown Park on the Greenway

Folding chairs will be available on a first-come, first serve basis. Please feel free to bring your own seating and Chinese takeout.
Films at the Gate is a collaborative project of several Chinatown residents, businesses and ACDC.

The event seeks to:

  • 1) increase awareness of ACDC's community programs
  • 2) improve awareness of Boston's Chinatown as a site of cultural activity
  • 3) restore a tradition of shared, public experience of Chinese-language films in Chinatown
  • 4) provide temporary community use of Chinatown's underutilized spaces draw foot-traffic to neighborhood restaurants and make downtown Boston a destination beyond the working hours
