ACDC Mission The Asian Community Development Corporation serves the Asian American community of Greater Boston by developing affordable housing for rental and ownership, promoting economic development, fostering leadership; and building community power to advocate for positive changes.
History Asian activists and leaders founded ACDC in 1987 to respond to the needs of Asian Americans in Greater Boston. Much of our work to date has focused on Chinatown; however, as the community changes, ACDC is growing to meet new needs. Today, ACDC is expanding it’s programs to serve ever-diversifying constituencies throughout Greater Boston.
The needs in Asian communities are tremendous. Though many have achieved financial success, 1 in 3 Asian households live below the federal poverty level. Many also lack adequate education, income and affordable housing and face challenges such as linguistic isolation and lack of job access.
ACDC works for and with the community to address these needs. The scope of our mission encompasses a neighborhood, community, and regional emphasis on the development of and planning, advocacy, and organizing for affordable housing, economic opportunity, and sustained social diversity and cultural identity.
