The Residence at 1088

The Residence at 1088 is a planned mixed-use, mixed-income project that would contribute 150 affordable units, 25,000 square feet of commercial space, and an array of green space to the Washington Street corridor that connects Chinatown to the South End. As ACDC's entry into the Federal Home Loan Bank's (FHLB) Affordable Housing Development Competition, The Residence at 1088 took third place overall. It is the second ACDC project to medal in the FHLB's competition. Last year, Chinatown Community Fulcrum took first place.

A student team of Harvard and MIT candidates, dubbed Team Lucky 8, consulted ACDC to assemble a formal proposal for the 1088 project. With input from Chinatown and South End residents and community leaders, Team Lucky 8 developed a proposal that responds to the needs of both neighborhoods by providing state of the art community space, ample green space, opportunities for affordable homeownership, and a vibrant retail frontage. A community-based master plan of the area surrounding the project accommodates the growth of Tufts/New England Medical Center (NEMC), while providing development opportunities for land-strapped Chinatown and the growth-pressured South End. A robust community process brings together Chinatown, the South End, and Tufts/NEMC in an unprecedented collaborative process, resulting in a development strategy that benefits all three communities.

Community Input

As a non-profit organization, community involvement continues to be an integral part of ACDC's development process. If you have comments or suggestions, we would be love to receive them. Please direct all feedback to Allen Penniman, Project Assistant at ACDC.
